Guidelines for writing your letter of intent to homeschool
A form that can be used with the guidelines
Sample letters used by homeschoolers in various counties
Your notice of intent should be addressed to your county schools' superintendent or attendance director. To find the name and address of the superintendent or attendance director in your county, go to http://wvde.state.wv.us/ed_directory/, scroll down to the list of counties, and click on your county. On your county's page, click on the county's central office information link, and you'll see a page with the mailing address for your county's school board office.
We recommend that you use a delivery confirmation option for mailing any correspondence to the county school system so that you can prove when the county received your documents. Some people hand-deliver their notices of intent and assessments, and request a receipt showing the date and time the documents were received along with the signature of the person who accepted them.
Always keep copies of the documents you send (or give) to the county.
